Upon leaving the Queens Center Mall after a day of ridiculous heat, we stumbled across empanadas on our way home.
I’d never had empanadas before, so I forced Angel to eat some with me. We each got the carne y papas (shredded beef and potatoes) empanada in corn flour patties. After waiting a few minutes…
I had no idea what the size would be, and I was excited. The meat inside was nicely flavored, and I loved the little chunks of potatoes. I especially liked the crispy skin on the outside. My only complaint is that afterwards, I felt gross since the empanada was so greasy. It was also my first empanada, so I can’t comment on authenticity or how it stacks up against other empanada places. That being said, I did quite enjoy my first empanada experience!
